Kevin Liao is your typical running nerd, following the sport for years before starting Spiked Up, Psyched Up. Kevin was previously the cross country and track & field correspondent for Capital One Cup. When not writing, watching Flotrack videos and reading Letsrun.com, Kevin also finds time to run fairly competitively with PR’s of 4:12 (1500) and 15:23 (5k) and more famously winner of the 2009 Marshall Clark 4 Mile road race. He is a junior at UC San Diego (explaining the site color scheme) majoring in political science and aspires to be a top operative in American politics. Among his other sporting interests are rooting for his hometown teams, the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers and Golden State Warriors.
Sam Juliano has been a sports fan since he was young boy but did not start becoming active in organized sport unitil 8th grade. Deciding to join the track team at C.E. Utt Middle School Sam’s vain attempts at sprints led him to distance running which he has continued up to this day. In his running Sam competed at Tustin High School, Santa Ana College and continuing to compete unattached while at UC San Diego. His favorite races are the steeplechase (10:17) and 5k (16:03) but he is also a big fan of cross country. A recent graduate of UCSD, Sam is going to attend graduate school at Chico State where he will study political science. In his off time he will cheer for the Chicago Bulls, Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Angels while hoping the Tritons can move to Division I.
