Paula Radcliffe, the British world record holder in the marathon, has officially been ruled unfit to compete in next Sunday’s Olympic marathon.

UK Athletics, Britain’s track and field governing body, made the assessment after Radcliffe failed a fitness test due to a foot injury.

Radcliffe’s readiness for her home country Games has been in doubt due to a lingering osteoarthritis issue.
