Vin Lananna Steps Down As Oregon Head Coach

Vin Lananna will step down from his position as Director of Track & Field at the University of Oregon, according to a tweet by Doug Binder.

Although Lananna will no longer be head coach, he will continue to have a role in Eugene’s status as TrackTown USA.

Current associate head coach Robert Johnson is expected to be named as Lananna’s replacement.

Since taking the post in July 2005, Lananna has revived Oregon’s track and field program and reestablished Eugene as TrackTown USA with the hosting of two Olympic Trials and a multitude of NCAA and USA championships.

Prior to his time at Oregon, Lananna was the athletic director at Oberlin College and before that head track and field coach at Stanford.

More details to come as this story develops.
