Ritzenhein, Rowbury Top Entrants For Stanford Invitational

**UPDATE: A few men from the Oregon Track Club-Portland are late additions to the meet. Evan Jager and Matt Tegenkamp will be in the 1500 meters while Simon Bairu and Brent Vaughn are tapped to run in the 5000 meters.

Fast distance races are again on tap for the 2012 Stanford Invitational scheduled for April 6 and 7 at Cobb Track and Angell Field.

Two-time Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein will make his appearance on the track since he set the American 5000 meter record in 2009. Ritzenhein is slated to run the 10,000 meters.

San Francisco resident Shannon Rowbury will make the short trek down to Stanford to contest the 800 meters. Rowbury, the 2009 World Championship 1500 meter bronze medalist, will take on reigning NCAA indoor champion Nachelle Mackie (BYU) and outdoor champion Natalja Piliusina (Oklahoma State).

Seeking to make her fourth Olympic team in 2012, Jen Rhines opens her outdoor season in the 5000 meters against a strong field that includes NCAA indoor 5000 meter runner-up Deborah Maier (Cal), collegiate 10,000 meter record holder Lisa Uhl and Jackie Areson, recently USA indoor 3000 meter runner-up.

Irish record holder Alistair Cragg is set to run the 5000 meters against Mammoth Track Club teammates Josphat Boit and Scott Bauhs as well as top collegiates Stephen Sambu (Arizona), Andrew Bayer (Indiana) and Hassan Mead (Minnesota).

Cragg is also entered in the 1500 meters and will face a bevy of top NCAA runners, notably Lawi Lalang (Arizona) and Chris Derrick (Stanford), who waged two epic battles in the 3000 meters and 5000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Cam Levins (Southern Utah), the recent NACAC cross country champion, and Stanford alum Garrett Heath are two others to watch for.

In addition to the distance events, 2008 Olympic decathlon champion Bryan Clay will contest the 110 meter hurdles and long jump.
