Scott Bauhs outdueled Sergio Reyes on Sunday morning to win the Coronado Valentine’s Day 10k run just outside of San Diego. Bauhs, the 25-year-old member of the Mammoth Track Club, finished in 29:42, just six seconds ahead of Reyes.
Bauhs is coming off a half-marathon personal best of 1:01:30 set on January 15.
Reyes last competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon where he finished 25th in 2:15:41.
Bauhs’s Mammoth teammate Angela Bizzarri was the top female finisher in a time of 33:32.
Bizzarri ran 9:53.23 to finish fourth in the two mile at last weekend’s New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.
Polish marathoner Karolina Jarzynska was second in 33:50.
Jarzynska, currently training at altitude in Alamosa, Colo., set half marathon (1:10:36) and marathon (2:27:16) personal bests in 2011.
