Shoe Companies Release Some Sweet Kicks For Olympic Trials Marathoners

The runners will be the focus of the action at Saturday’s Olympic Trials Marathon but viewers would be remiss if they neglected to see the sweet kicks the marathoners will be rocking. The perks of professional runners include not just the free gear they receive but also the customized colorways of shoes they get from their shoe sponsors. Leading up to Olympic Trials Marathon, several shoe companies have unveiled special racers for Saturday’s big race.

Saucony, sponsor of top athletes like Magdalena Lewy Boulet and Team USA Minnesota teammates Jason Lehmkuhle and Matt Gabrielson, posted a picture on its Facebook page of the flashy red versions of their popular racing flats – (from left to right) the Grid Type A5, Kinvara 2 and Fastwitch 5.

As the new kid on the block in the running market, Skechers only has one sponsored-athlete – 2004 Olympic silver medalist and 2009 New York City Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi. With this being the case, the Manhattan Beach-based company pulled out all the stops for Keflezighi with a customized pair of orange, blue and neon yellow flats labeled “GoMeb” in reference to its GoRun series of trainers.
