Brown, Braun victorious at Mt. SAC Relays

A pair of up-and-coming young pros claimed wins on Friday night in the invitational sections of distance races at the 2011 Mt. SAC Relays.

In the 1500 meters, Oregon Track Club Elite’s Russell Brown outkicked a top-notch field that included U.S. 10k record holder Chris Solinsky and double NCAA champ Miles Batty of BYU.  His final lap of under 53 seconds helped Brown achieve a personal best time of 3:35.70.

The 5000 meters saw Aaron Braun of McMillan Elite make a strong move in the race’s closing stretches to win in a personal best time of 13:27.01.  Jorge Torres made his return to the track to claim second place while British runner Andy Vernon was third.
